MY THOUGHTS ON THE NEW RANDOM
by Presidential Candidate Connor Ratliff (Age 36)
The Chris Gethard Show is in the midst of selecting its THIRD RANDOM, and the voting is already underway.  11 candidates appeared on the most recent episode, and each of them stated their case for why they should be the replacement for the once-hated, now-beloved Random Andrew.
I’ll confess: I am not ready to make an endorsement yet. But I will discuss my current leanings. Here is the list of candidates and their current standings as of 2:30AM:
Random Butch (29%, 38 Votes)

Random Melissa (22%, 28 Votes)

Random Lauren (8%, 10 Votes)

Random Mike (8%, 10 Votes)

Random Vin (6%, 8 Votes)

Random Brian (5%, 7 Votes)

Random Sky (5%, 7 Votes)

Random Orlando (5%, 7 Votes)

Random Michelle (5%, 7 Votes)

Random Other Brian (4%, 5 Votes)

Random Noah (3%, 2 Votes)

I’ll confess: I am not ready to make an endorsement yet. But I will discuss my current leanings.
I’m going to re-watch the show, but my top two during the broadcast were Random Orlando and Random Butch. I also liked Random Black Tina Fey but her nickname was so memorable that I can’t remember what her actual name was, and Random Michelle for her awkward crush on Gethard. There were other high points and funny bits in the show, but these four were the ones that clicked with me in terms of sincerity, even when they were being funny, and it’s that wild card element that can’t be faked that I think gets my vote for next Random. Some of the other bits were funny, but for me that can cut both ways. The show has a lot of funny people on it already, and that’s not really a criteria for me in who I vote for Random.
One of the reasons I didn’t initially support Random Andrew was that he tried out for the Random slot by reading a scene from a Full House episode. None of his great moments on the show were anything like that— he came into his own on the show by being himself, and being genuine and reacting honestly, not by trying to do comedy bits.
Regardless of which Random candidate ends up getting my vote— I’m not going to decide until after a thorough re-watch of the episode— I’d encourage the finalists to just be true to themselves on next week’s episode. Don’t worry about being funny or being “impressive” or being a “character.”  Just be yourselves. It’s true on the show as it is in life— it will serve you well.
Every Random who showed up tonight was a winner just for showing up. Ask Random Dan or Random Christie or Random George, all permanently enshrined in the lexicon of The Chris Gethard Show. But in the end, there can only be one.
P.S.  I hope all the Random candidates will endorse me for President, even though I will only end up endorsing ONE of them.  Follow me on twitter (@35ratliff2012) and buy merchandise at my cafepress store, then vote for me in November, please.

No official endorsements yet, but certainly some important discussion from TCGS pillar Connor Ratliff. Don’t forget to vote!
