North Carolina! We’re coming to you, 2/17!

The Chris Gethard Show returns to North Carolina on 2/17 as part of the NCCAF. Brace yourselves, motherfuckers. We’re about to go big on this shit.

Next Thursday morning, close to 30 TCGS regulars are going to pile into two gigantic vans. We’re gonna point those fuckers south and we’re heading straight to Chapel Hill.

We played Chapel Hill as part of our cross-country tour last year and we had a fantastic time. We are so psyched and flattered to be asked back and we plan on giving the people of NC as well as those gathering for the festival from around the world a show they’ll never forget. I mean, we’re playing Cat’s Cradle! That’s some big time shit. We’d better come correct. That’s why we’re planning on presenting…

THE PUNISHMENT PATROL

Here’s how shit’s gonna go down. We’ll be bringing a number of our regular performers and a whole bunch of support staff to be a part of this show. But most importantly, we’ll be bringing our friends The Dolchnakov Brigade. If you don’t know, the Dolchnakovs are a militaristic, strange, mysterious band that operates out of Brooklyn, but hails from a land unknown and supports a cultish philosophy known only as “Palevish!” It is as weird and intense as it sounds. They put on a fantastic live show and things tend to get really out of control when they hit the stage.

So that being said, we’re going to give YOU, the audience member a fantastic time while building to something that will be horrible for one of US, the cast members!

Basically -

The first half of our show will be a game show where each of our cast members links up with a member of the audience. The cast member will play on behalf of that audience member, hoping to ultimately win them a badass prize package full of all sorts of goodies. There will be a number of rounds that should hopefully be funny and exciting and real participatory. The whole time this is going on, the Prize Patrol will be roaming the studio audience, handing out prizes, making sure everyone is having fun, really making this show feel as much like a party as it does a comedy show.

BUT – the Prize Patrol has a dark side. When the show shifts gears and The Dolchnakov Brigade starts playing, they will switch from being the Prize Patrol to THE PUNISHMENT PATROL. Whichever cast member has done most poorly as part of the preceding game show will be placed in a designated area while the Dolchnakovs play. The Punishment Patrol will periodically sneak up on and punish that person. We will not say what these punishments are, but they will include but not be limited to: physical violence, humiliation, degradation, electrocution, and emotional cruelty. YOU KNOW, ALL THE THINGS YOU WANT IN A COMEDY SHOW.

Between the Dolchnakov Brigade whipping the crowd into a frenzy and the Punishment Patrol leading the charge to show our cast members what happens when they don’t bring the heat and come correct on behalf of their audience member, this show promises to end in a bizarre, frothing mixture of fun, music, and human misery.
